Care of wounds - Coloproctologie

There are one to three open sores at the margin of the anus:

Take seat baths or rinse wounds with the shower head after each bowel movement, 2-3 times a day.

Put one or more dry or absorbent compresses near the anus in your underwear for 2-4 weeks. Compresses need not be sterile.

Intermittent yellowish or bloody oozing is normal for the first 2-4 weeks.

Wound care at home

During the day / night time:

No bandages on the skin.
Strict perineal hygiene. Rinse the perineum with the shower head or bidet after each bowel movement, if possible.
We recommend applying an absorbent pad in the underwear to absorb the wound fluid.

Absorbent compresses /pads

Available in dressing shops, pharmacies, available without prescription (Zetuvit®, Hekasorb®,…).

Do not use paper towels, as this increases moisture and maceration and thus irritation of the buttocks.

When showering – bathing:

You can take a bath or shower without protection.
After showering dry the residual wound before applying and absorbent compress or pad.
