Opération
Une incision est faite dans le contour de la partie inférieure de l’ombilic. Le contenu de l’hernie est disséqué est isolé. Si l’hernie contient de l’intestin, il est refoulé dans l’abdomen. Si l’hernie contient de la graisse abdominale, elle peut être refoulée dans l’abdomen ou réséquée.
L’orifice (le trou dans la paroi abdominale) est fermé avec des fils et l’ombilic est fixé à la paroi abdominale.
Combien de temps dure l’intervention?
En fonction de la grandeur de l’orifice entre 30 et 60 minutes.
La durée de l’intervention est moins longue si la mise en place d’une prothèse n’est pas nécessaire.
Que faut-il faire afin d‘éviter une récidive d’hernie après intervention chirurgicale ?
Il ne faut pas faire de sport ni d’activités physiques importantes pendant les 6 premières semaines après l’intervention.
Évitez une surcharge pondérale importante car elle augmente la pression intra-abdominale et par conséquent le risque d’hernie.
Incidence : 8 – 14 %
Facteurs de risque qui favorisent les récidives:

Lorsqu’un sac herniaire est retiré ou si un bout du sac herniaire est laissé en place, le vide laissé après retrait du contenu de la hernie (tissu graisseux ou l’intestin) , peut se remplir de liquide abdominale (serosité) et de sang.
La collection peut être vidée par des ponctions lors de la consultation, rarement la collection doit être évacuée lors d’une intervention chirurgicale.
A 2 ans, 95 % asymptomatique, pas de douleur.
< 1,5% de lésion lors du détachement des adhérences par coelioscopie.
Rare. Saignement suite à des blessures sur des petits vaisseaux sur la paroi abdominale. Dans la majorité des cas, le saignement s’estompe spontanément.
Afin de diminuer le risque de complications, il est conseillé:
Normalement la douleur est facilement contrôlable avec du Dafalgan, AINS (anti-inflammatoire) ou morphinique et les symptômes normaux s’atténuent dans le temps.

La reprise du sport peut être envisagée après 4 à 6 semaines.
Une grossesse peut être envisagée après cure d’hernie ombilicale – épigastrique.
